Pearle Vision makes you pay the full price up front". Then, sometime much later, you get your glasses that are probably wrong/. I paid $550, got the glasses 3 weeks later!. One pair was right and one pair was wrong". The company has been "using" my money for 5 weeks and I only have one pair of glasses|. Also, they do not order new frames/. You purchase the ones they have in the store that you, and who knows how many others, have tried on|. I'm still waiting for the second pair/. I won't be going back again in this lifetime or my next !!!!!!! 129d60d

first of all, i don't blame them for asking for the money up front. I work in optical and you wouldn't believe how many people don't pick up their glasses when they haven't paid the full amount.

Second of all, when you buy clothing do you ask for a shirt that no-one has tried on before? No, you get what's in stock. Sometimes if the lab that is creating the glasses doesn't have the frame in stock you get a stock one, but THEY SANITIZE IT!

Pearl Vision on Ford Road Canton has the worst customer service. I call and ask for the model number for the 2 frames I had them quote me earlier and Tammy goes oh we don't have model numbers just SKU. I told her your in the wrong line of work. Plus check the prices of what the stores charge to online. WHAT A RIPOFF!

I meant to say "I got a replacement at no charge to me".

Update: I got a replacement for my lens at charge. I spoke to a different person in the same store and she agreed that it is a manufacturing defect and ordered a new lens for me. I got a 2nd pair from Sams Club and their prices are lot cheaper (w/o insurance) and the lens were thinner than what I got from PearleVision - both are high index 1.67.

I too have been wearing glasses for many years and I NEVER buy new frames anymore. I have at least 7 frames stored away and love them so why buy new frames when you have frames at home. P.S. I love the HUGE eye frames and they don't make them anymore and another reason I use what I have - saves a lot of money.

I understand how scratches happened and I never clean my lens using my shirt. I have bought cleaning solution from PearleVision and I got a cleaning cloth with it. Those are only method I used to clean my lens. All my older glasses are in good condition which I followed the same cleaning procedure.

Now my lens looks like something is peeling off of it. It is not a scratch for sure. I am sure you can say that I can GET OVER IT but that is not the kind of customer service I expect from a big establishment like yours. This is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.

If you buy an expensive shirt in a store is it the one you try on? Yes it is. Guarantee fabric wears more than metal does. GET OVER IT

In regards to Raj's post... Scratches are caused by friction. Its simple physics. Obviously something got on your new glasses and odds are you wiped them with your shirt and ground this into the lenses therefore scratching them. There is no such thing as scratch proof lenses. Were your old glasses made of glass? Glass doesn't scratch but if you get an air bag in the face you'll lose an eye. Food for thought

I had been a Pearle Vision customer for some years now. In Oct. 09, I ordered a pair of prescription glasses and I paid more than $300 for one pair with insurance. I do have astigmatism and I know my glasses cost more but $300 w/insurance was lot more than what I expected. I got my glasses 10 days later and I was happy with it. They have 30 day guarantee. Within 2 months, I started getting tiny scratches only on my left glass and when I went to the store they said that I must have scratched it and they said I can get it replaced for $150. I got the complete package which included anti-scratch/anti-glare/uv. The store manager mentioned that anti-scratch and scratch resistance is totally different. I went home and looked at my old glasses from last 5 years and both of them has not even a single scratch on them - one of them was from Pearle Vision. I have been wearing glasses for more than 20 years and take care of my glasses. Now I have more scratches on my left lens and I am really unhappy with Pearle Vision. To get an idea on what other stores charge for my glasses, I went to Walmart Vision center and they said I can get the same prescription glasses with non-designer frame for $150 w/o insurance. The frame I got from Pearle Vision is designer - still they are outrageously expensive. I am planning on getting a pair from Walmart and will never again step into Pearle Vision. They have outright worst customer service and I am surprised I did business with them for more than 5 years – I guess you will know about customer service only when you have to use it.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. All Pearle Visions are not owned or opperated the same. Franchise stores have many different policies and can change things that are advertised corporately. Paying $550 for 2 pair of glasses is a lot, but it depends on what you actually got, if they were both designer frames with lighter lenses and non glare, that is really good. And you can always ask to have a new frame ordered for you, I know in my store I would never mind doing that. We do a lot of glasses in an hour so a patient wanting glasses quickly is better off getting what is already there. I do understand your situation is different, I'm just trying to clarify how it works.
