Poor quality glasses from Pearle Vision Apple Valley MN

I purchased a pair of expensive glasses (about $450) in June, 2012. They immediately became scratched and I am getting small "pock marks" on them. I have worn glasses for 60 years, so I have plenty of grounds for comparison and I have never had glasses that scratched so easily and I have never seen anything like these marks. When I complained, the rude employee tried to blame it on me - poor cleaning process. Also, the glasses do not fit my face well. My eye lashes actually touch the lenses. Do not buy glasses at Pearle. Overall, service in the store is terrible.

LIED ABOUT REFUND POLICY

I PURCHASED THE RAY BAN EYEGLASS FRAME ONLY AND TRIED TO GET A REFUND IN ORANGE PARK, FL AND WAS TOLD I'D HAVE TO GO BACK TO GAINESVILLE, FL WHERE THEY WERE PURCHASED. I WENT BACK THERE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS, ONLY EXCHANGE!!

THAT WAS NOT STATED AT TIME OF PURCHASE WHEN I ASKED THAT EXACT QUESTION!! I WILL NEVER DO BUISNESS WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN. I'D FOUND GUESS GLASSES AT VISIONWORKS, I HIGHLY SUGGEST GOING TO THEM. VISIONWORKS TRIES YO BRAINWASH THEIR CUSTOMERS INTO SPENDING MORE MONEY THAN YOU NEED TO!!

EX.. THEY TRIED TO GET ME TO TAKE A NEW EYE EXAM WHEN I ALREADY HAVE A 2 YEAR SUBSCRIPTION WITH 16 MONTHS REMAINING. IN THE END I SPENT $100 EXTRA OUT OF POCKET AND $338 TOTAL OUT OF POCKET. $130 FRAME ALLOWANCE AND $20 LENS COPAY WITH SUPERIOR VISION INSURANCE!!

Lenscrafters gives 90 day refund. Yes you get your money back!!

I'm a pissed off spouse of a wonderful wife of 34 years, and when she has issues she cant solve herself, I have to step in and advocate for her. She needs her glasses as much for driving, work and reading.

She went to Pearle Vision here in Lakeland,FL, Was doing her yearly with them. Her lenses were adjusted, final price; 267.00 out of pocket!! But when the lenses came back they were out of focus. She asked for a refund so that she may go elsewhere(and because she never noticed the 'no refund' policy on any paperwork) and the refund was blatently refused.

Now she is upset, and an ex-customer of Pearle V. She doesn't want to fight for her money, but I do!!! I will find a way, and they will pay!! Even if I have to make it my lifes mission to do it,I will!!!

That policy is so frikkin' ridiculous!!

If they don't want to keep losing customers, they need to reverse it!! We work extremely hard for our money, and we don't deserve this sort of unprofessionalistic *** a reputable organization like this is throwing in our faces.

Guest

I was never explained to me that there was only one transition tint, or pointed out to me how it is going to look and told there was no refund. Carina was helpful but I think she could have explained more since there no other customers in the office.

I took my glasses back the first time to get the anti glare off. it made everything blurry, then when I noticed that my glasses did not get dark enough like the extra advantage on my old glasses that did not make me squint all the time. the poly transition I got on the glasses does not do nothing for me. so now I have to keep this pair for $456.00 with no refund I was told.

EVERYONE SHOULD BE TOLD THERE IS NO REFUND!!

the store is a complete rip off and all along I thought it would be more professional NOT! it does not say anything about a refund that I no of doesn't most professional places have refunds?

Guest

Of Course opticals dont do refunds and of course you need to go back to where you purchased them. :(

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you're frustrated.

We are happy to adjust, repair, exchange, or replace your glasses for an item of equal or lesser value within 30 days of your original purchase. I'm happy to try and help if you'd like to email iCare@***.com or call 1-80*-***-**** (option 4).

Pearle is NOT Walamrt and refunds are a courtesy that no store has to give. They will NOT refund, NO EYE store or optometrist, a pair of glasses.

The lenses are made specific to your prescription. Exchanges are ALL you can hope to get.

As for having to go to the location you purchased at, hello...that store has your information. Again, it is NOT Walmart.

What's a subscrption to a medical prescription? How does that work exactly?

The state regulates the time eyeglass Rxs are allowed and FDA for contact lens RXs, just like any other RX. It's not to scam you, but to protect you. People don't take their health seriously at all anymore, it's quite sad.

I've actually bought many pairs of glasses and contacts at my local Pearle Vision and the reciept states the policy right on it too. :grin :grin :grin :zzz

All those sales people and they are to short staffed to make my glasses??

Glasses were not ready on time. While I understand that things happen, the manager was quite abrupt and rude about it stating they were understaffed and at times fall behind. Well, they certainly had MORE then enough sales staff, most of whom were doing nothing. Not enough staff to make the glasses but sales people galore. That seems to be bad business to me. Is Pearl more (only) concerned with selling then actually servicing the customer? What good is selling if you cannot deliver the item? That smells of greed and poor customer service. Perhaps Pearl needs to review it customer service and production policies! Not certain if I will return to Pearl but if I do, it will not be at this location. My advice? AVOID KENTWOOD!!

BAD customer service!!!

After being a client at this store since DAY ! I had

previously enjoyed a great relationship with all the employees. They would treat me with respect and good

service. Things declined in 2010 when they lost one of

their good employees, then again the next year. The people

they hired for replacement employees are rude and ex-

tremely unhelpful and truly lack customer care. Not

Bonnie or Dr. but just about everyone else in the office

Went elsewhere in 2012-WAY better service!! I didnt expect

special service BUT I had been a customer for 20 years

and was treated as a "problem customer" if I questioned

ANYTHING.

Never go there if you want a good service

I was really pissed off and frustrated by the way I was treated or what they so called "service" from both the doctor who did the eye exam and the person in the reception. First of all I made an online appointment for both eye glasses and contact exam and when I go there the doctor said she is just going to do the eyeglasses exam and after a short argument about the record of my online appointment, she nodded her head. After finishing the eyeglasses exam, she asked me to wear the eye contact lenses to see how they fit on my eyes without doing any eye contact exam!! And when I asked her about the reason for not testing the pressure of my eyes by using the machine that puff air on the eyes! She said because I am pregnant!!! I don't know what does this have to do with my pregnancy! Also she refused to give me the contact lenses prescription on the time of the exam saying that I will get it after a week or two of trying the contacts which are supposed to be delivered few days after the exam was made. So I can say you won't get your contact prescription until a month after your actual exam. Moreover, when I checked, they asked me to pay $40 as a co-pay for eye contact exam despite the fact that it is covered by my insurance! Can you imagine paying for something you did not get...

Pearle Vision in West Orange,New Jersey

Updated by user Dec 12, 2012

Please see additional comments below. There was no attempt to resolve the manner or even apologize for their misleading service.

Original review Nov 11, 2012
On November 7, 2021, I took my sister and her prescription to Pearle Vision in West Orange, New Jersey to purchase a pair of glasses. After trying on several pair, she decided on one pair and the optician measured her. The salesperson stated that she would have to order the glasses and it would take about a week to come in and that I would receive a phone call. Surprisingly on November 8th I received a call from their staff saying that the glasses were ready. I said are you sure and was told yes. The next day I took my sister in to pick up the glasses. As she was trying them on I noticed that the glasses were very loose, as if they had been worn or used excessively. I noticed that the frames we had selected were no longer on the wall. I asked the salesperson if these frames were the sample frames that my sister tried on two days ago. She said yes. I asked why are we paying full price for these used store sample frames? She replied saying that it is the store policy to give the store frames to customers unless they request new frames. What customer would pay full price for used store frames? No customer expects a bait and switch. There is no signage to this policy posted in the store, nor did anyone present this to us as an option upon our initial visit. I spoke with the manger named Billy and he also said it is the store's policy to give the used store frames to customers unless they request new frames. He did indicate that he could order new frames but did not know how long it would take. Astonished by his remarks and the deceptive underhanded business practice, I said that I would be filing a complaint. To all customers, beware of Pearle Vision. You will order and pay full price for glasses but will be given the used store frames that you initially tried on instead.

Looks like this one never got resolved either. Be advised that Pearle Vision also owns Sunglass Hut, Lens Crafters and Sears Vision. So you can expect the same customer service from them as you did at Peale Vision.

jbummer

There was no attempt to resolve or even apologize for their service. In fact, I was informed that the Pearle Vision Centers are independently owned and can do practically whatever they want.

They establish their own set of policies.

Do not use them at all, especially the store in West Orange, New Jersey. The management and customer services suck.

Pearle Vision broke my Nikon lens and resfuses to replace it

Updated by user Nov 01, 2012

Ms Renne Fericci, the Chesterfield Town Center Pearle Vision store manager called me today. She refused again to replace the broken Nikon lens and instead she asked me to call Pearl Vision Customer Relations phone numnber at 1-80*-***-****.

I called and there was no answer, just an answering service. I am seriously considering taking this case to the Small Claims Court.

Original review Nov 01, 2012
I am a 67 year old professional. I have ben looking for an extra pair of prescription glasses, because I travel extensively and I keep forgetting my glasses at different locations around the world. So I went to buy a pair of expensive Prada prescription eye glasses, from the Pearle Vision store at the Chesterfield Town Center, in Midlothian, VA. I looked around and I figured that Pearle Vision is a smaller, more customer oriented store than Lens Crafters and I would get more attention and better customer service. While waiting to try on the new glasses, I asked a Pearl Vision optometrist to tighten a screw on the glasses I was wearing. I purchased those glasses 2 years ago. They have an unique, very expensive frame (Japan) with a Rodenstock bridge (Germany) and Nikon lenses. I replaced my Nikon lenses about 1. 5 year ago. This is why my current prescription did not change. One of the optometrists tightened the screw, but being negligent and not paying proper attention to my glasses, she broke one of my Nikon lenses. The other optometrist apologized for breaking my lens and offered (in writing) to replace my Nikon lens free of charge. About 2 weeks after this incident, the store called and left a message on my answering service stating: "we cannot find a Nikon lens anywhere", and offered me instead a new pair of eye glasses free of charge. I do not need freebees, I just want my glasses back. I love my Japanese glasses. The Nikon lenses are the best lenses available on the market. This is why they cost 2-3 times more than any prescription lenses sold by Pearle Vision. Since I already bought the only Pearle Vision prescription eyeglasses I liked in the store, I do not want my glasses being replaced by a cheap pair of glasses free of charge. I just want Pearle Vision to honor their reputation, stand up to their responsibility in this event, exercise their commercial and professional liability and replace the Nikon lens they carelessly broke. That's all. Instead, the Pearle Vision store manager, Ms. Renee Ferucci keeps nagging me. She stated that at the store level she cannot help me any further, that this is now a Corporate Office Issue, using other similar pretexts to do nothing about replacing my Nikon lens. To date, the store is refusing to replace my Nikon lens.

Pearl Vision Motto is a LIE!!!

At approximately 5:30pm on Wed. Nov 7, 2012, I experienced what eye doctors refer to in laymens terms as a 'shower of floaties'. Quick internet investigation revealed that this could be an indication of the start of a detached retina (complete blindness). Eight (8) days before I had an optometric exam at Pearl and noticed their motto displayed upon the wall. The motto says 'No one cares more about your vision than Pearl'. Needless to explain, my concern with the potential of going blind rose dramatically with this information from the internet. I went to the Pearl office in Kentwood Michigan and after being told I could wait for the optomotrist and waiting for 45 minutes, I was reapproached by the store manager and told I would have to schedule another appointment and come back. Remember, I'm faced with potential blindness and they can't spare 5 minutes for a customer and do a check as to confirm or otherwise determine the seriousness of the situation. I left and contacted a more professional and customer oriented facility which worked me in and determined that the condition was not the start of a detached retina, much to my relief. This professional an caring doctor indicated that a 5 minute exam would have at least calmed my fears and would have been what any caring professional would have done. So good riddence to Pearl, keep up the *** customer service and someday, hopefully soon you'll be out of business.

Bad service, staff incompetence, over charges, not willing to admit their mistake, run around for customer service, all around bad experience. Store staff messed up order when they seemed clear about what service I was requesting. Staff taking order seemed to understand but wrote the wrong info. I had checked about prices for two pair of glasses vs two pair of lenses had both pair of frames checked to see if they were both good to go staff told me both were good for replacement lenses to save money. Said they understood. Now one pair of lenses comes in and they want to charge double for another set . . . manager no help. Feels like a scam and I am being ripped off. NO more Pearle Vision for me or ANYONE I know. I will tell all I meet, Pearle Vision is a bad place to go for glasses and not to expect satisfaction if they choose to ignore warning.

Burberry glasses hindge

I bought a pair of high priced glasses from Pearl Vision with the conception that if they broke pearl could fix them. I was wrong. Pearl does not fix individual parts. If you have a problem with your frames you have to buy the entire frame. Pearl does not do parts I was told.I am going to go buy new glasses today and it will not be from Pearl. I will go somewhere that will fix what I need. The company wants to get every dime they can get out of you and your satisfaction is secondary to Pearl.

Vastly Overcharged

My husband had his annual medicare $40.00 vision check at Safari Vision LLC, 720 SE 160th Ave., Ste 103, Vancouver, WA which is a Pearl Vision place. Upon leaving he was charged $74.00 for which payment was required prior to leaving on 9/22/2012. Recently, he received Medicare information stating that his provider responsibility was $40.00 and not to pay it until he was billed. Last week we received an additional bill in the mail from the same place of $16.00. Today I ask for an explanation for the overcharge. I was told my husband signed papers for the extra work & charge. I ask to see the paper he signed & was told we don't keep any of that. I was told that I didn't understand Medicare & that I'd have to return at a later time for anymore explanation in the run around from one person to the next. This makes me think Dr. Snider is dishonest.

Thank you, for your concern. Our main concern is the red flag that rose when the 2nd person that was attempting to help me telling me that my husband had signed papers for all the extra work, took me to a back room & told me that they didn't keep any of the signed papers.

My husband said if he signed papers it was only what they told him to sign. I have not seen any signed papers.

They could care less. It should also be noted that they own Lens Crafters, Sunglass Hut, Sears Vision and Target Vision centers. Don't buy from these places unless you know for a fact that you won't have any potential problems.

They will not resolve any problems. They don't care.

Beware of "fitting fee"

i have vision insurance and was hoping to stay within the limits of my plan coverage when i went to Pearl Vision. However, after my eye exam and subsequent ordering of contacts, I found I was billed $244.00 for a "fitting Fee" that is NOT covered by insurance.

Fitting fee for what? Just a hidden fee to rip consumers off. this fee is mandatory for ordering contacts or glasses. I will never use Pearl Vision again.

BE warned. ASK ahead of time about all fees or you will be ripped off. Plus they billed my insurance company and additional $25.00 fitting fee. I am sure my insurance provider is unaware of this.

I am going to them next. Pearl Vision is a RIP!!!!!

Pearl Vision motto is 100% LIE!

the Pearl Vision motto displayed is 'No one cares more about your vision than Pearl'. This is total bull. Within a week of having an exam, I suddenly experienced what is referred to as a 'shower of floaties'. Quick investigation indicated this could be something serious, perhaps the start of a detatched retina. Since the 'shower' occurred at about 5:30pm and by 6:15pm I was at Pearl hoping for the doctor to at least do a quick look to determine criticalness (detatched retina is total blindness and I'm an IT technical consultant). There was no concern at all by any of the Pearl staff, the comment was, have him make an appointment to come back. I'm talking blindness, and they don't give a 's#@$'. Thank God I never ordered glasses from them. The only money they got was for that exam from my insurance. No more. My recommendation is AVOID PEARL VISION.

More than likely that time of the day the eye doctor wasn't there. That is expecting quite a bit.

The Pearl Visions where I live are open several hours a week when there isn't an eye doctor on duty. If you were so concerned about your vision you should probably have went to the ER. I have had floaters in front of my eyes for many years.

Sometimes it is more than one and sometimes only one, I am also diabetic, but the floaters aren't caused by that and because of my diabetes I have to have an eye exam at least once a year and they have never showed anything serious. Maybe you shouldn't do research online.
